(using subcompact="yes")

(Perhaps the list element could have an attribute such as "emptyLine" that i could set to "yes" in a list where i wanted a blank line between each element of the list.)

Question: Is this a property of the document or of the list? --BillFenner?, Sat, 10 Dec 2005 00:23:04 -0800 reply
Is it the RFC Editor style that all sublists end with a blank line, or would this be an attribute of a list?

Answer: property of the list. --ahagens, Fri, 13 Jan 2006 15:16:50 -0800 reply
The RFC Editor would like to be able to choose for a given list if the sublists are separated by blank lines. Default could be yes, IMHO.

Would repeated rfc-PIs? help? --CharlesLevert?, Sun, 15 Jan 2006 21:09:30 -0800 reply
rfc-PI directives such as <?rfc subcompact="yes"?> can be repeated at several places within a document. Is there some sequence of tags and PIs? (some "yes", some "no") that would already achieve the desired effect?

Documentation on what compact and subcompact do? --BillFenner?, Mon, 16 Jan 2006 09:46:09 -0800 reply
Is there any documentation on the specifics of what compact and subcompact do, to make it easier to figure out what set of PIs? would have what effect?

No doc on the specifics --CharlesLevert?, Tue, 17 Jan 2006 21:11:35 -0800 reply
One would have to hunt down use of the associated variables in the script to figure everything out. The README is very terse on the subject.

in practice: toggling compact --ahagens, Fri, 17 Mar 2006 11:05:10 -0800 reply
I have found that sometimes (depending on the document's original format) when I use rfcedstyle="yes", turning compact off/on within a document helps produce the desired spacing. For example, turning it off before a list where I want blank lines between items, and on again after the list.
